So today is the day I finish packing my bags and head off to… Oxford! What’s this got to do with Greece I hear you ask! Well, I’m off to the 2017 Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire tomorrow. I bought the tickets prior to planning my Greece trip and, rather unfortunately, had to plan my trip around it so it’s effectively now the first part of my holiday! Not the end of the world, just an added logistical complexity.
Fairford is about 3 hours drive from where I live, so I decided to drive down this afternoon and stay somewhere closer to the show. Afterwards I’m heading straight to Gatwick airport for my (very) early Easyjet flight to Athens on Sunday morning, which means technically my ‘Greek Odyssey’ (as I’ve decided to call it) begins today.
I won’t bore you with talk about the air show as clearly that’s not why you’re here, but I wanted to start this blog at the start of my trip. You can read more about my itinerary here and I’ll try and update the blog at least every couple of days, mainly for my own records and to aid me in writing up the island guides when I get back, but hopefully they’ll be of interest to someone!
