Since beginning our Western Cyclades 2020 trip planning a few weeks ago, we’ve been closely monitoring the Coronavirus situation in Greece, nervous that any spike in case numbers might cause the UK government to require tourists to quarantine for 14-days on their return.
While the quarantine requirement itself isn’t an issue for me – I work from home anyway – my fear was that imposing this restriction may have caused lots of people to cancel their flights, which could, in turn, result in my flight being cancelled by Ryanair and leaving me unable to travel.
You can see our latest YouTube video update on the situation in the player above. Since publishing the video, the daily figures have been encouraging (despite the scary 283 cases on Sunday 23rd), dropping to 155 on the 24th and 168 today.
For this reason, I’m growing in confidence that my trip will go ahead and I’ll shortly be posting a more detailed itinerary with my most recent plans.
