Farewell, Sifnos: A Day to Remember
It’s hard to believe that my time on Sifnos has nearly ended. Today marks my last full day on this incredible island before I set sail for Serifos tomorrow. Excitement and curiosity are bubbling up as I think about exploring a quieter, less-travelled destination—but there’s also a hint of nervousness. What will Serifos hold for me? With only two nights there, though, it feels like a low-stakes adventure—no matter how it compares to the magic of Sifnos.
One More Day in Paradise
The agenda for today? Blissfully simple: beach, relaxation, and soaking up every last moment. Some might think it’s indulgent to spend two days in a row doing “nothing” in a place with so much to explore, but for me, this is the essence of a holiday. After all, things are about to get much busier once I leave. With shorter stays on each upcoming island and plans to tackle long hikes with Ed, these tranquil moments feel like a necessary recharge.
Same Lunch Spot, New Twist
You won’t be surprised to hear that I made my daily pilgrimage to Café Stavros—because why break my unblemished streak at this point? Today’s indulgence: a cheese and onion toastie so good that I couldn’t resist ordering a second round. Clearly, my stomach has been expertly trained to embrace the island’s culinary delights.
For a little variety, I switched things up in the afternoon and claimed a sunbed outside To Kohyli, a nearby café. Along with a stunning view, I treated myself to an Aperol Spritz to add a playful pop to the day. And then…oops! Let’s just say my relaxation was a bit too effective—I accidentally left without paying. Realizing my mistake later back at the hotel, I made a mental note to set things right before heading off tomorrow. No Aperol guilt here!
Capturing Kamares
As the sun began its slow descent, it hit me: this was my last chance to photograph and film the enchanting Kamares for my blog and YouTube channel. Determined to make the most of it, I swapped my beach attire for camera gear and set off.
I started at the docks, sending my drone soaring to capture sweeping aerial shots of Kamares Bay, the beach, and the charming town nestled against the hills. The footage turned out stunning, but by the time I switched to my street-level camera, shadows had crept over much of the village. While not every shot was perfect, it still felt satisfying to preserve the beauty of this special place.
The Final Feast
The ultimate question of the day: Camaron or Da Claudio for my farewell dinner? Both are top-tier favourites, but deep down, I knew it had to be Camaron. Their four-cheese tortellini is, simply put, otherworldly. With a glass of rosé in hand and a plate of perfectly creamy, cheesy pasta before me, I couldn’t have asked for a better send-off. Every bite delivered exactly what I’d hoped for—pure perfection.
A Near-Perfect Goodbye
As I drifted off to sleep that night, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. My time on Sifnos had been everything I dreamed it would be: incredible food, a stunning local beach, a charming hotel, and the ever-reliable brilliance of Greek sunshine. This island has earned a special place in my heart, and I already know I’ll be back someday. For now, though, Serifos awaits—and a whole new chapter of this journey begins!
