A Relaxing Final Day
Two weeks here on Paros have been plenty of time exploring the island, so I didn’t really have much on my agenda today besides relaxing ahead of a long-ish travel day tomorrow. I ate breakfast in my hotel room, packed my beach gear and laptop and headed out to the local beach, grabbing a Freddo espresso from the cafe downstairs on my way out.

No Wind at Last
As I walked around the harbour toward the beach, I noticed how still the air was and realised the wind had finally died down. As a result, it felt several degrees hotter and by the time I arrived at Parikia beach, I was hot enough to head straight into the sea as soon as I’d laid out my towel and finished the last of my coffee.

The beach was quiet as it was still quite early, just as I liked it! I spent a couple of hours sunbathing, reading my Kindle and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.
Lunch and Work
When midday arrived, I packed up my beach towel and walked to Onar cafe, now my go-to spot for lunch as it’s pretty cheap and the food is reasonably decent. I ordered a beer and club sandwich and then got my laptop out to catch up on some work.
I contemplated another spell on the beach, but as I walked back along the sand from Onar cafe towards the town, the beach had become quite busy and I didn’t really fancy squeezing myself in around other sunbathers. Instead, I headed back to my room and did a bit more work in a quiet, air-conditioned environment.
At 5pm, I had a video call with my parents as it had been a while since I’d spoken to them. Just before the call, I popped to Ragoussis bakery to get another coffee and ended up treating myself to a couple of cakes as well: two mini baklavas with chocolate swirls on top and a larger bit of chocolate cake. The call lasted about an hour and it was nice to catch up. I then headed down to the gym for my last workout on Paros (though I’m contemplating an early session tomorrow).
Dinner or no Dinner
After drinking my post-workout protein shake, plus the cakes I’d had earlier (though I haven’t eaten them all), I wasn’t really hungry but equally didn’t want to spend my last evening stuck in my hotel room, so I had a shower, got dressed and headed out to see if I could find somewhere I fancied eating.
I ended up walking quite a distance around the town, but this only served to convince me that I didn’t really need or want a meal, so I circled back to the hotel and decided to sit outside at the cafe and treat myself to a cocktail instead.

I sat and did some people watching: the hotel cafe is a great spot, being opposite the port and close to the bus station there are always people walking around. I made the cocktail last quite a while, then headed up to my room and to bed.
