Enjoying the Best Bits Again
With just a few days remaining on Paros before I head to my next island (spoiler alert… it’s a new one!), I wanted to revisit some of my favourite places that I’d seen over the past 10 days. The beach at Piso Aliki was one of the nicest that Caroline and I found when exploring the island last week, so it was at the top of my list to visit again.
After the now-usual budget breakfast in my hotel room, I walked across to the bus station and took the 8:40 bus to Aliki. I skipped the small main beach and walked straight around to Piso Aliki instead, as it’s easily the nicer of the two. I’d brought my drone this time and, despite the gusty wind, managed to get it airborne and capture some decent video clips and photos of the area.
The beach was nice and quiet as it was still quite early in the morning. I laid out on the sand for a while, reading my Kindle and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. When I got warm enough to need a cooling dip, I grabbed my goggles and had a swim, but didn’t go as far across the bay as I had done last week.
The beach started to get a little busy later on (mainly due to a large group of kids), so I packed up at about 11:30 and walked back to the main village, getting another drone shot of Piso Aliki beach on the way.
Droning On
I contemplated walking all the way around to Agios Nikolaos beach to use my drone again but managed to find a spot just west of Aliki beach that was close enough to fly over to Agios Nikolaos, though I’d only brought 2 of the 3 batteries and neither had retained their full charge so I only had about 5 mins of flight time left.
It was enough to get the drone airborne and take a few photos of the beach and a short video before I had to fly back and land again.
Lunch
After packing the drone away, I returned to the same café that Caroline and I had snacked at on our previous visit (Ya Soumitsou). Armed with my laptop, I sat down to catch up on work and had a beer and club sandwich as a slightly early lunch.
Back to Parikia
I took the 12:30 bus back to Parikia. It went via the airport so took a bit longer than it had to get here. Once we had arrived in the capital, I went straight to the supermarket to stock up on protein shakes (I bought 6 while I had the chance!) and a couple of bottles of water plus some more yoghurts. I decided to go back to the hotel for a few hours to do more work. Went to the gym for 6 pm, had a decent back/triceps workout, and left at about 7:15 pm.
A New Dinner Spot
Unsure of where I wanted to eat tonight, I walked to Filoxenia restaurant along the beach road but looked at the menu and didn’t fancy anything. I then backtracked to Daniele Italian which was closer to the hotel but also didn’t fancy anything (and it’s quite expensive) so went to Cuore Russo pizza restaurant instead. This turned out to be a great decision, as the food was excellent. I had a pizza (obviously) and 0.5ltr red wine plus the chocolate salami dessert. All very tasty.
