We set out bright and early, checking out of our hotels to catch the mid-morning ferry to Mykonos. Originally, we’d planned on an even earlier ferry to squeeze in a visit to Delos, but with just one night on Mykonos (and a splurge-worthy hotel booked), we made the call to skip it. Instead, we decided to embrace some downtime, enjoying the hotel pool and exploring nearby beaches.
Arriving in Mykonos, we hopped in a taxi for the 5km drive to our hotel. The island is every bit as picturesque as you’d expect—whitewashed buildings, and narrow roads lined with charming stone walls. The roads, though, are pretty tight, and they’re busy with scooters and quad bikes weaving in and out, which makes navigating a bit of a thrill. But when we finally reached our hotel, the effort was totally worth it. The Anna Maria Mykonos Hotel was a dream! Photos don’t quite capture how modern, spacious, and pristine our rooms were. Each of us had a room with a double and single bed, and the pool area felt serene and tucked away, even though we were close to the road. I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone, though there are probably more budget-friendly options for those on a tighter budget.
Rooms are a real luxury: spacious, cool, modern and the bed was fantastic!

Once we’d recovered from the shock of just how nice the hotel was, we headed out to the pool for a swim and a light lunch. Then, we took the bus (from a convenient stop just a few minutes down the road) to Psarou Beach. From there, we strolled along the coastline, beach by beach, until we reached the iconic Paradise Beach. To be honest, it wasn’t quite our idea of paradise—packed with sunbeds and buzzing with young, affluent tourists, mostly American and Australian, letting loose. But the beach itself is beautiful, and we couldn’t resist taking in the Mykonos atmosphere. So, we grabbed a Mythos at the Paradise Beach Club (a steep €7, but hey, it’s Mykonos!) and soaked up the scene under some much-needed shade.
After a beer or two (and resisting the temptation to spend more than necessary), we headed back to the hotel to freshen up for the evening. Mykonos Town was calling, and we were ready to see the iconic windmills, watch the sunset, enjoy a good meal, and maybe even indulge in a few more drinks as we soaked up the island’s legendary nightlife.
