Another Room Switch
Similar to last week’s stay in Malia, my time at Minois Boutique Hotel had only been possible on the basis that I changed rooms to work around their existing bookings. Since I was travelling alone, I had no problem with this as it meant I got to enjoy the hotel a second time. As a result, I had left most of my luggage unpacked to make the switch easier.
After another delicious breakfast (below are the same pictures from a previous post in case you missed them), I spoke to reception about the room move and was told to leave my bags in my current room and the staff would relocate them for me. Free from this obligation, I got my gym stuff together and set off for the bus back to Malia.
Gym Time
I still had one day left on my week’s pass at the gym in Malia, and since it’s a much nicer gym than the one I had been using in Hersonissos, it made sense to go back there. I had hoped Christian might join me again so that I’d have company, but he explained that he was trying to find a kickboxing gym to do some training so probably wouldn’t be available.
As chance would have it, I bumped into him anyway: he was driving past the gym just as I arrived on foot. We spoke for a few minutes as he’d been unable to find his kickboxing gym and said he might come for a workout instead, but I didn’t see him and ended up having a pretty good solo session instead.
Stalis Sun
I got the midday bus back to Stalis, but instead of heading straight for my hotel I walked into the town and bought a protein shake, plus a lemonade, some beer and melon slices so that I could save money on lunch.
Back at the hotel, my new room wasn’t quite ready yet so I sat in the air-conditioned reception for a while until the maids had finished cleaning the room, then was shown to my new home for the next 6 nights. Room 20 wasn’t as fancy as the one I’d vacated, but was still a full-sized double room and therefore a big improvement on the single room I’d had during my first stay here a week ago. I made an effort to unpack most of my things, then, finding I had no work to do, headed down to the pool area to sunbathe and relax.
Dinner
For dinner, I decided to try somewhere new. After a brief stroll along the main resort road, I ended up at The Greek Grill towards the western end. It’s a small place but quite popular, with only a few tables available when I arrived. I had a good meal of cheese saganaki to start, followed by pork fillet with mushrooms and a cream sauce.
