Review Rating: 4/5
Date of Visit: July 2021
I spent one night at Galini Beach during a mini road trip across southern Crete in July 2021. I chose the hotel based on its central location, proximity to the beach, positive reviews and budget price. The room cost me €44.50 which I felt was a fair amount given the time of year.
The hotel offers a small car park in front of the building, large enough for perhaps 6 vehicles. There was a space available so I was able to park on-site which made it convenient to get my luggage to/from the car. On arrival, I was met by an elderly gentleman who seemed to be running the hotel with his family. I had arrived prior to the official check-in time and my room wasn’t quite ready yet, so he told me to leave my suitcase in a secure area behind reception and come back in half an hour. I used this time to explore the beach opposite and have a nice cold beer.
The room itself was a reasonable size, plainly furnished but clean and modern. The air conditioning seemed to work well and the bathroom was clean with a decent shower. I didn’t spend much time at the hotel as I was only there one night, but I slept well and was also offered a 15% discount on food at the cafe next door for breakfast the next morning.
For the price I paid, I was very satisfied and would recommend Galini Beach as a nice place to stay in Plakias.
